dominated by a large lake.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/echo-park-los-angeles-02.jpg\" alt=\"In photos: Echo Park, Los Angeles in the dying light of day\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The lake in Echo Park has been around since 1860 and was originally used as a drinking water reservoir, and then as a recreational park with border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Today you can hire a pedal boat shaped like an oversized swan and slosh around the large central fountain.<\/p>\n<p>In the background you can see the downtown Los Angeles \/><\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s lot of little food and clothes stalls scattered around the park.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" peninsula is this striking statue, known locally as the Lady Of The Lake.<\/p>\n<p>Sculpted in the Art Deco style by artist Ada Mae Sharpless, the statue\u2019s official name is \u201cNuestra Reina de Los Angeles\u201d (Queen of the Angels), and\u00a0was given as a gift to the city of Los Angeles in 1935. <a
