On the weekend, I was back up in one of my favourite UK cities, with the Monochrome Set playing a show at Jimmy’s in Liverpool. Here’s some photos from my brief visit:<\/p>\n

Situated opposite Liverpool’s bombed out church, Jimmy’s<\/a> has a basement for live music. a ground floor bar and a stylish dining area o the first floor.<\/p>\n

It’s laid back and friendly, and the staff were super friendly.<\/p>\n

Inside the bar’s mini-grand piano.<\/p>\n

My snare drum for the night was this curious Arbiter ‘auto-tune’ number which just one extra-beefy central lug for tuning.<\/p>\n

It looked great but – to be honest – sounded pretty ordinary.<\/p>\n

Passing the Motel Bar in Fleet Street.<\/p>\n

We were staying in the Hanover Hotel, which has McCartneys Bar on the ground floor.<\/p>\n

At 4pm it was jam packed with people watching the Liverpool game (they won, obviously). The noise was fearsome in my hotel room above, but the bar closes at 1.30am and all was really quiet after that.<\/p>\n

It’s always crazy-busy in the outdoor drinking area in Concert Street.<\/p>\n

\"In<\/p>\n

The Beatles play a huge part in Liverpool’s identity.<\/p>\n

Heading into the basement area of Jimmy’s.<\/p>\n

\"In<\/p>\n

Support band, The Harveys<\/a>\u00a0finish their set.<\/p>\n

St Luke’s Church<\/a>, more commonly known by locals as the bombed-out church, is a former Anglican parish church in Liverpool, England. It stands on the corner of Berry Street and Leece Street, at the top of Bold Street.<\/p>\n

Heading out for a post-gig beer.<\/p>\n

The Grapes in Roscoe Street.<\/p>\n

\"In<\/p>\n

We stopped off for chips in this fabulously chaotic fast food pitstop. People were falling over tables and dropping change all over the place, but the vibes were super friendly.<\/p>\n

Passing Concert Street.<\/p>\n

I loved the Motel Bar. Well, they played Bowie for starters, and the crowd was up for a bloody good time, all the time. Beers aren’t so cheap, but what the hell – it was free entry\u00a0 and there’s plenty of entertainment going on inside.<\/p>\n
