photos: a trip to the London Sky Garden \" \/><\/p>\n<p>Six years <a href=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/the-sky-garden-at-the-walkie-talkie-tower-20-fenchurch-street-london-photos\/\">after my first visit,<\/a> I returned to the Sky Garden in the City of London and took in the spectacular views from the top of the landmark skyscraper.<\/p>\n<p>Located in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/walkie-talkie-tower-fenchurch-st-crackles-into-life\/\">Walkie Talkie tower<\/a> at 20 Fenchurch Street,\u00a0 the garden is open to the public for free, but you need to pre-book your visit.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/sky-garden-2021-02.jpg\" alt=\"In photos: a trip to the London Sky Garden \" \/><\/p>\n<p>Designed by architect\u00a0<a title=\"Rafael Vi\u00f1oly\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rafael_Vi%C3%B1oly\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rafael Vi\u00f1oly<\/a> and costing over \u00a3200 million, the 37-storey building was opened in 2004 and stands 160 m (525 ft) tall.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/sky-garden-2021-03.jpg\" alt=\"In photos: a trip to the London Sky Garden \" \/><\/p>\n<p>Visitors have to go through airport-style security to get into the lift, with metal detectors and bag inspections.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/sky-garden-2021-05.jpg\" alt=\"In photos: a trip to the London Sky Garden \" \/><\/p>\n<p>The skyscraper hit the news in 2014, when it was discovered that reflections from the curved building were starting fires and causing damage to nearby businesses, and, famously, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/developers-unveil-plans-to-stop-the-walkie-talkie-towers-car-melting-rays\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a0melting parts of a parked Jaguar
