Weds:<\/strong> The week started early: as I popped out for “quiet” beers at the Albert followed by “just the one” at the Dogstar.<\/p>\n

That ‘one’ somehow multiplied into ‘many’ and it proved to be a very late night indeed. Eeek!<\/p>\n

Thursday<\/strong> we went up to the Windmill to see our mates in the\u00a0fabulous\u00a0No Frills Band supporting old time American folk music purveyors, the\u00a0Black Twig Pickers.<\/p>\n

They did this curious stage huddle thing, where the guy with the sweaty back banged the strings of the\u00a0violin with what looked like knitting needles, while his other mate cuddled up to play harmonica. It was quite sweet.<\/p>\n

On Friday<\/strong>, we managed to venture north of the river (gasp!) for an urban75 drink at the Bree Louise,69, Cobourg St, NW1, a lively bar\u00a0veritably\u00a0stuffed with quality real ales.<\/p>\n

Here’s the winner of the Design Museum ‘best dressed’ award,\u00a0resplendent\u00a0in her jammy dodger-festooned mask.<\/p>\n

That had a vast selection of ales on offer, but for some\u00a0reason\u00a0I elected to try out the Apples & Pears cider, which\u00a0– in retrospect – possibly wasn’t\u00a0the greatest idea I’ve had in a pub.<\/p>\n

Suitably loosened up, we made it down to Brixton for Club Integral at the Grosvenor.More beers and table football followed (we won!).<\/p>\n

Unwisely, my girlfriend decided to have a go on the new kids adventure playground in Max Roach park \u00a0on the way home.<\/p>\n

Ignoring my warnings that she would almost certainly fall off and hurt herself, seconds later calamity struck. \u00a0I actually have\u00a0photographic\u00a0evidence of her fall from grace, but I’m not\u00a0allowed\u00a0to post it up!<\/p>\n

Saturday<\/strong> at the Albert saw “poet, community worker and former criminal”\u00a0Michael Groce<\/a> host a hard hitting night\u00a0commemorating\u00a0the Brixton Riots.<\/p>\n

\"Drinking<\/p>\n

Sunday<\/strong> was Acoustic Insurgency at the Grosvenor, a benefit night in aid of Ian Tomlinson<\/a> who was attacked by police at the G20 protests last year<\/a>, and later died.<\/p>\n

Me and Nicola were DJing and old chum Vic Lambrusco hosted the evening.<\/p>\n

Note to clubs: if you book me as a DJ don’t tempt me with wonderful effects like this. I mean, what song doesn’t<\/em> sound better with a cheesy ‘animal sound’ effect over the top?<\/p>\n
