{"id":2440,"date":"2010-10-01T10:30:09","date_gmt":"2010-10-01T09:30:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/?p=2440"},"modified":"2010-09-30T21:34:42","modified_gmt":"2010-09-30T20:34:42","slug":"the-changing-london-skyline-brixton-views","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/the-changing-london-skyline-brixton-views\/","title":{"rendered":"The changing London skyscraper skyline: Brixton views"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/london-skyline-1.jpg\" alt=\"The changing London skyline: Brixton views\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve got a pretty good view across London from our Brixton penthouse (cough) suite, and I&#8217;m loving watching the skyline change around the city.<\/p>\n<p>Above you can see the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/london-razor-skyscraper-packs-wind-turbines-bladerunner-style\/\">Strata tower block<\/a> with its\u00a0distinctive\u00a0wind turbine roof.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/london-skyline-2.jpg\" alt=\"The changing London skyline: Brixton views\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Annoyingly, the flats on Barrington Road, Brixton, obscure our view of the fabulous Gherkin, so we can only see the tip of its roof peeking over the rooftops.<\/p>\n<p>In the centre is the rapidly growing central core of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/the-london-shard-reaches-for-the-sky-photos\/\">The Shard<\/a> and to the left is the\u00a0newly-constructed\u00a0Heron tower (110 Bishopgate), crowned by its US-style \u00a0tall mast.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/london-skyline-3.jpg\" alt=\"The changing London skyline: Brixton views\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To the left of the Heron Tower, you can just make out the roof of Tower 42, which was the tallest building in the UK when it opened in 1981 &#8211; a record it held until the topping out of One\u00a0Canada\u00a0Square in the\u00a0Docklands\u00a0in 1990.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/london-skyline-4.jpg\" alt=\"The changing London skyline: Brixton views\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A closer view.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/london-skyline-5.jpg\" alt=\"The changing London skyline: Brixton views\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.urban75.net\/vbulletin\/threads\/239329-The-Shard-starts...\" target=\"_blank\">Discuss The Shard and other London skyscraper\u00a0developments\u00a0here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;ve got a pretty good view across London from our Brixton penthouse (cough) suite, and I&#8217;m loving watching the skyline change around the city.
