{"id":2518,"date":"2010-10-26T16:08:26","date_gmt":"2010-10-26T15:08:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/?p=2518"},"modified":"2012-05-15T14:13:54","modified_gmt":"2012-05-15T13:13:54","slug":"a-thursday-night-in-brixton-four-bars-six-bands-and-all-for-free","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/a-thursday-night-in-brixton-four-bars-six-bands-and-all-for-free\/","title":{"rendered":"A Thursday night in Brixton: four bars, six bands and all for free"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/brixton-october-nightlife-01.jpg\" alt=\"Thursday night in Brixton: four bars, six bands and all for free\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Is Brixton best place for great free nights out in London?<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve lived all around London and can&#8217;t think of anywhere where you&#8217;d get this assortment of free, &#8216;scene&#8217;-free entertainment.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/brixton-october-nightlife-02.jpg\" alt=\"Thursday night in Brixton: four bars, six bands and all for free\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the roll call from Thursday night &#8211; four bars, all free:<\/p>\n<p>9PM &#8211; JAMM, Brixton Road\u00a0for IanW&#8217;s four-band free indie night<br \/>\n10PM &#8211; Rest Is Noise, Brixton Road\u00a0for some indie band who manfully battled against their dreadful PA system<br \/>\n11PM &#8211; Albert, Coldharbour Lane \u00a0for a very noisy Iggy Pop-esque rock band<br \/>\n12.30AM \u00a0&#8211; Dogstar, Coldharbour Lane\u00a0for vast amounts of drinking and dancing<\/p>\n<p>.. and apparently there was a free night at the Windmill too and a live jazz band at the Effra!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/brixton-october-nightlife-03.jpg\" alt=\"Thursday night in Brixton: four bars, six bands and all for free\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Rest Is Noise. I really like the venue, but the sound has got progressively worse for live music.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/brixton-october-nightlife-04.jpg\" alt=\"Thursday night in Brixton: four bars, six bands and all for free\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Prince Albert &#8211; home of our Offline nights and one of the finest live music boozers in SW9.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/brixton-october-nightlife-05.jpg\" alt=\"Thursday night in Brixton: four bars, six bands and all for free\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Prince Albert crew.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/brixton-october-nightlife-06.jpg\" alt=\"Thursday night in Brixton: four bars, six bands and all for free\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Dog with a lampshade for a hat, Dogstar.<\/p>\n<p>There can&#8217;t be many places in London that offer this much great free entertainment on a Thursday night, no?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.urban75.net\/vbulletin\/threads\/336160-Brixton-surely-the-best-place-for-great-free-nights-out-in-London?\" target=\"_blank\">Discuss it on the urban75 bulletin boards!<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Is Brixton best place for great free nights out in London?
