With Saturday night’s hangover still biting damn hard, I stumbled off in the\u00a0direction\u00a0of Brixton’s finest\u00a0Japanese\u00a0restaurant, the New Fujiyama, in a quest for hot’n’tasty nourishment.<\/p>\n

Tucked away on Vining Street behind the Dogstar (near the corner of Atlantic\u00a0Road\u00a0and Coldharbour Lane), the restaurant has several rooms on two floors, all painted a garish bright red (not so good for the hangover).<\/p>\n
Although it was a Sunday afternoon, the place was very busy indeed, but the service remained fast and friendly, so we were soon tucking in.<\/p>\n

My mate Danny had this huge bowl of what seemed to be a lucky fish dip, with all sorts of interesting marine life surfacing above the broth.<\/p>\n

Being a veggie, I wasn’t interested in\u00a0anything\u00a0with fins or eyes, so went for a Yasai Katsu (\u00a34.25) side dish of deep fried vegetables coated in Japanese bread crumbs served with a sweet and spicy sauce. It was delicious.<\/p>\n
My main dish was Yasai Chilli Men (\u00a36.50), a spicy number with steamed noodles and loads of vegetables in mild chilli sauce that certainly hit the spot!<\/p>\n
The portions were all generous, the prices reasonable and I’d describe the meal as being excellent\u00a0value for money. Recommended!<\/p>\n
