{"id":3410,"date":"2011-02-14T11:45:45","date_gmt":"2011-02-14T11:45:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/?p=3410"},"modified":"2011-02-14T14:15:08","modified_gmt":"2011-02-14T14:15:08","slug":"another-lost-london-dodgy-boozer-the-globe-tollington-rd-n7","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/another-lost-london-dodgy-boozer-the-globe-tollington-rd-n7\/","title":{"rendered":"Another lost London dodgy boozer: The Globe, Tollington Rd, N7"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/globe-tollington-road-london.jpg\" alt=\"Another lost London dodgy boozer: The Globe, Tollington Rd, N7 \" \/><\/p>\n<p>Captured here all bricked up and awaiting its fate is The Globe public house, 107 Tollington Rd, N7 7JH.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>A fairly\u00a0substantial\u00a0three story building with a gently curved\u00a0fa\u00e7ade, there&#8217;s not a lot of\u00a0information\u00a0about the pub online.<\/p>\n<p>So far, I&#8217;ve only discovered that in 1874 the landlord was James Chessher and in 1944 a Wm Thos Hurrey was manning the pumps &#8211; if you know more about the pub or used to drink there, please add your comments to this article.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/globe-tollington-road-london-1.jpg\" alt=\"Another lost London dodgy boozer: The Globe, Tollington Rd, N7 \" \/><\/p>\n<p>The pub was to last less than a year after this photo was taken in early 2006, with demolition swiftly being followed by the inevitable construction of &#8216;luxury\u00a0lifestyle\u00a0apartments&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.urban75.net\/vbulletin\/threads\/343346-The-Globe-north-London-identify-this-pub-please!\" target=\"_blank\">A thread on the urban75 boards<\/a> asked posters for their memories of The Globe, and the responses seem to suggest that it was something of a &#8220;dodgy pub.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>TitanSound: &#8220;had a drink in there once a good few years back and was threatened with a glassing within half an hour.
