{"id":366,"date":"2007-11-16T00:04:00","date_gmt":"2007-11-16T00:04:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.urban75.org\/u75blog\/?p=366"},"modified":"2007-11-16T00:04:00","modified_gmt":"2007-11-16T00:04:00","slug":"sex-pistols-fireworks-ramones","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/sex-pistols-fireworks-ramones\/","title":{"rendered":"Sex Pistols, Fireworks, Ramones&#8230;."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Been a bit slow updating my blog recently, so here&#8217;s a bumper pack:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">Sex Pistols at Brixton<\/span><br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.urban75.org\/brixton\/photos\/images\/sex-pistols-02.jpg\" alt=\"Sex Pistols at Brixton\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It was fun but a bit odd. Johnny was brilliant &#8211; part pantomime dame, part Olivier&#8217;s Richard III, part Norman Wisdom, part sneering punk and a total showman throughout. <\/p>\n<p>Steve Jones looked like an over inflated inner tube, Paul Cook was lean and committed and Glen Matlock looked like he&#8217;d just stumbled in from a pub gig somewhere. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.urban75.org\/brixton\/photos\/images\/sex-pistols-03.jpg\" alt=\"Sex Pistols at Brixton\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The band were tight and it was LOUD. Johnny looked fit, tanned and healthy, sang the songs with gusto, running through a wide variety of hilarious facial expressions and movements. <\/p>\n<p>Viewed as a gig it was a bit strange, but as a piece of theatre it was well worth the money. And if nothing else, you can always bore people in the future by saying: &#8220;I saw the Pistols.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">Fireworks, Brockwell Park<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.urban75.org\/brixton\/photos\/images\/brixton-fireworks-04.jpg\" alt=\"Fireworks, Brockwell Park\" \/><\/p>\n<p>With t&#8217;local yoot relentlessly bombarding the &#8216;hood with bazooka-style fireworks over the preceding three months, I have to admit that my appetite for going up the park to  watch the display had diminished somewhat.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.urban75.org\/brixton\/photos\/images\/brixton-fireworks-03.jpg\" alt=\"Fireworks, Brockwell Park\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Thankfully, we have a great view from our balcony, so I <a href=\"http:\/\/www.urban75.org\/brixton\/photos\/november-2007.html\">grabbed a few shots.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">Halloween<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/ramones-01.jpg\" alt=\"Ramones tribute band\" \/><\/p>\n<p>For Halloween, I went to a great party at a local squat\/arts venue and saw a friend&#8217;s Ramones tribute band.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/ramones-02.jpg\" alt=\"Ramones tribute band\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Normally, I hate any kind of tribute band but this lot are my mates and they have a girl singer so it was fun to watch.<\/p>\n<p>Talking of gigs, on Saturday I&#8217;m putting on a Rock&#8217;n&#8217;Roll\/Big Band special at the Albert with 4 hot rocking ladies on the decks and the fantastic Hightown Crows playing live.
