{"id":3697,"date":"2011-03-12T20:32:35","date_gmt":"2011-03-12T20:32:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/?p=3697"},"modified":"2011-03-12T20:32:35","modified_gmt":"2011-03-12T20:32:35","slug":"the-bronze-passengers-on-brixton-station","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/the-bronze-passengers-on-brixton-station\/","title":{"rendered":"The bronze passengers on Brixton Station"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/brixton-station-sculpture-01.jpg\" alt=\"The bronze passengers, Brixton Station\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Following on from my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/waiting-passenger-sculptures-brixton-railway-station\/\">original feature of the three bronze passenger statues<\/a> on Brixton railway station, I&#8217;ve grabbed a few more photos and some contemporary views of the rather more elusive third sculpture.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/brixton-station-sculpture-02.jpg\" alt=\"The bronze passengers, Brixton Station\" \/><\/p>\n<p>While two\u00a0figures\u00a0can easily be seen on the open platforms,\u00a0the third figure stands on the abandoned Catford platform, which directly faces Brixon Rec.<\/p>\n<p>The statue is hidden behind a large &#8211; and\u00a0rather\u00a0ugly &#8211; triangle of tall metal fencing but it is\u00a0actually\u00a0possible to walk on to this platform from the end of the southbound platform.<\/p>\n<p>In the background of the image above, you can see the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/pic-of-the-day-bradys-clock-tower-brixton\/\"> clock tower of the Railway Hotel\/Brady&#8217;s public house<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/brixton-station-sculpture-03.jpg\" alt=\"The bronze passengers, Brixton Station\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The statue remains in good\u00a0condition, although some oaf has daubed on some white paint.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/brixton-station-sculpture-04.jpg\" alt=\"The bronze passengers, Brixton Station\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Watching\u00a0the train go by, Brixton station.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Feature<\/strong>:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/waiting-passenger-sculptures-brixton-railway-station\/\">Waiting passenger sculptures, Brixton railway station<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Following on from my original feature of the three bronze passenger statues on Brixton railway station, I&#8217;ve grabbed a few more photos and some contemporary views of the rather more &hellip;
