It’s great to see the old Brixton Fridge (now the Electric Brixton) back in business, and last night a charity\u00a0performance\u00a0by indie popsters Hard Fi had the place packed out.<\/p>\n

Outside view. The tatty old fridges that were stuck on the\u00a0fa\u00e7ade\u00a0have thankfully gone, and the building now looks much smarter.<\/p>\n

I took a good look inside the venue when the refurbishment was still taking place<\/a>, and although it’s still not quite finished, you can see that a lot of work has gone into restoring the former glory of this south London venue.<\/p>\n

There was still a strong whiff of fresh paint\u00a0everywhere\u00a0though!<\/p>\n

The ground floor bar was very, very slow. Here’s a few comments from our bulletin board<\/a>:<\/p>\n

Possibly employing more than 5 bar staff for the huge main bar, and also people who have previous bar experience (and not more interested in talking about their new nailpolish than serving punters) might be one improvement [Gabi]<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Gabi’s point about the bar is entirely true. I guess that’s why they’ve done 2 soft launches but I can’t see how they’re going to improve much by the weekend. It was nearly as bad in the upstairs bar, and considering that was largely free, it should have been a lot quicker.\u00a0[nipsla]<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The lighting was incredible, and the sound was pretty good too (although others will\u00a0disagree\u00a0on that score).<\/p>\n
