{"id":517,"date":"2006-10-25T22:52:00","date_gmt":"2006-10-25T22:52:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.urban75.org\/u75blog\/?p=517"},"modified":"2006-10-25T22:52:00","modified_gmt":"2006-10-25T22:52:00","slug":"a-day-in-dover-and-dover-castle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/a-day-in-dover-and-dover-castle\/","title":{"rendered":"A day in Dover and Dover Castle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.urban75.org\/photos\/kent\/images\/dover-kent-11.jpg\" title=\"Dover kent\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Spent a pleasant couple of hours in Dover on Saturday &#8211; the first time I&#8217;d ever stopped off at the town rather than just going through it en route to France.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.urban75.org\/photos\/kent\/images\/dover-kent-17.jpg\" title=\"Dover\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The town&#8217;s a mix of attractive Georgian architecture and &#8216;orrible identikit High Street shops, but the castle is really stunning.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.urban75.org\/photos\/kent\/images\/dover-castle-28.jpg\" title=\"Dover castle\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s over 2,000 years of history on the site, and the Keep is truly massive!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.urban75.org\/photos\/kent\/images\/dover-castle-29.jpg\" title=\"Dover castle \" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>My favourite was the Roman Pharos (lighthouse).
