{"id":542,"date":"2006-08-02T23:52:00","date_gmt":"2006-08-02T23:52:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.urban75.org\/u75blog\/?p=542"},"modified":"2006-08-02T23:52:00","modified_gmt":"2006-08-02T23:52:00","slug":"dungeness-old-railways-lighthouses-and-steam-trains","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/dungeness-old-railways-lighthouses-and-steam-trains\/","title":{"rendered":"Dungeness old railways, lighthouses and steam trains"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.urban75.org\/photos\/kent\/images\/dungeness-railway-01.jpg\" title=\"Dungeness old railway station\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Visited the bleak &#8211; but fantastic &#8211; shingle wastelands of Dungeness last weekend and took some snaps of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.urban75.org\/photos\/kent\/dungeness-railway.html\" target=\"_blank\">old station site at Dungeness<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.urban75.org\/photos\/kent\/images\/dungeness-railway-10.jpg\" title=\"Disused railway tracks, Dungeness\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Wandering around the area, I came across two heavily rusted <a href=\"http:\/\/www.urban75.org\/photos\/kent\/dungeness-railway-01.html\" target=\"_blank\">narrow gauge lines<\/a>, which I assume were used by fisherman to transport fish from their boats to the nearby road.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.urban75.org\/photos\/kent\/images\/romney-hythe-02.jpg\" title=\"Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway\" border=\"0\" \/><br \/>We&#8217;d travelled to Dungeness on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.urban75.org\/photos\/kent\/romney-hythe-railway.html\" target=\"_blank\">Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway<\/a>, which steams through 14 miles of countryside on a tiny 15 inch (380 mm) gauge track.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.urban75.org\/photos\/kent\/images\/dungeness-19.jpg\" title=\"Dungeness\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I love the weird open spaces of Dungeness and managed to grab two pages of photos <a href=\"http:\/\/www.urban75.org\/photos\/kent\/dungeness-01.html\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Visited the bleak &#8211; but fantastic &#8211; shingle wastelands of Dungeness last weekend and took some snaps of the old station site at Dungeness.
