{"id":550,"date":"2006-07-19T00:57:00","date_gmt":"2006-07-19T00:57:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.urban75.org\/u75blog\/?p=550"},"modified":"2011-06-22T17:52:26","modified_gmt":"2011-06-22T16:52:26","slug":"more-beards-per-square-inch-than-is-entirely-comfortable","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/more-beards-per-square-inch-than-is-entirely-comfortable\/","title":{"rendered":"More beards per square inch than is entirely comfortable"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ventured north tonight to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theoldqueenshead.com\/whatson.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Old Queen&#8217;s Head<\/a> pub in Islington for the <a href=\"http:\/\/myspace.com\/spinningjennys\" target=\"_blank\">Spinning Jenny<\/a> night.<\/p>\n<p>A friend was DJing (although we could barely hear anything she was playing), with the night described as,  &#8220;A witches brew of pastoral folk, psych-rock and progressive oddities, showcasing the best in female acoustic singer\/songwriters.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The folky bands were pretty good too &#8211; I liked the Welsh singing Cate Le Bon (surely no relation?) &#8211; but the beard count was a tad unsettling and there was a slight whiff of norf London trendiness which jarred slightly.<\/p>\n<p>But the boozer was nicely air conditioned and the beer prices weren&#8217;t too steep either, although the bar staff did that really annoying thing of &#8220;suggesting&#8221; you tip them by presenting your change in a stupid little silver tray.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ventured north tonight to the Old Queen&#8217;s Head pub in Islington for the Spinning Jenny night.
