{"id":571,"date":"2006-05-27T00:31:00","date_gmt":"2006-05-27T00:31:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.urban75.org\/u75blog\/?p=571"},"modified":"2006-05-27T00:31:00","modified_gmt":"2006-05-27T00:31:00","slug":"the-angel-brixton-closed-down","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/the-angel-brixton-closed-down\/","title":{"rendered":"The Angel, Brixton closed down"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.urban75.org\/brixton\/images\/the_angel.jpg\" title=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now, this really sucks.<\/p>\n<p>The Angel, Coldharbour Lane  is one of the last old-school black Brixton pubs left here and in the 12 years I&#8217;ve lived opposite the place, it&#8217;s never caused any bother.<\/p>\n<p>Whenever I&#8217;ve popped in for a pint, it&#8217;s been a friendly community pub and I&#8217;ve always enjoyed hearing the reggae\/ska coming out of the place when I&#8217;ve walked past.<\/p>\n<p>But tonight &#8211; out of the blue &#8211; I discovered the place has been shut down and sealed up with metal hoardings &#8211; suggesting that it&#8217;s not likely to be reopened for some time soon (if at all).<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve no idea if it was busted or closed down by bailiffs, but losing this pub would be a real loss to the community.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.urban75.org\/brixton\/bars\/the-angel.html\" target=\"_blank\">More photos<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Now, this really sucks.
