{"id":669,"date":"2005-07-21T09:29:00","date_gmt":"2005-07-21T09:29:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.urban75.org\/u75blog\/?p=669"},"modified":"2010-04-22T15:17:01","modified_gmt":"2010-04-22T14:17:01","slug":"669","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/669\/","title":{"rendered":"Site updates &#8211; devils Dyke and Brighton"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Site updates<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If I say so myself, there&#8217;s some great new stuff on the site.<br \/>\nTaking pride of place is my spod-tastic <a href=\"http:\/\/www.urban75.org\/railway\/\" target=\"_blank\">Abandoned stations and disused railways<\/a> section, offering photo reports on long forgotten lines.<\/p>\n<p>Did you know that a remote Dyke near Brighton once had its own branch line, a &#8216;Steep Grade Railway&#8217; and an aerial cable car, attracting crowds of up to 30,000?<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/urban75.org\/railway\/images\/devils01.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Devil's Dyke Railway\/Aerial Cableway\" width=\"350\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s all long gone now, but it must have been an amazing place to visit in its heyday.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Battle of the Beanfield\" src=\"http:\/\/www.urban75.com\/Action\/Img\/beanfield04.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere on the site, I&#8217;ve add a chapter from Chris Robert&#8217;s superb <a href=\"http:\/\/urban75.org\/london\/river-gods.html\" target=\"_blank\">Cross River Traffic Project<\/a> book, called &#8216;Gods of the River and Bridge&#8217; and a chapter from Andy Worthington&#8217;s book documenting the 1985 clash between police and the Stonehenge Peace Convoy, known as the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.urban75.com\/Action\/beanfield.html\" target=\"_blank\">Battle of the Beanfield<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"NYC photos\" src=\"http:\/\/www.urban75.org\/photos\/newyork\/images\/ny489.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350 border=\" \/><br \/>\nI&#8217;ve finally finished updating my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.urban75.org\/photos\/newyork\/\" target=\"_blank\">New York photo gallery<\/a>, adding a new <a href=\"http:\/\/www.urban75.org\/photos\/newyork\/ny700.html\" target=\"_blank\">Shops, Signs and Graffiti<\/a> section and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.urban75.org\/photos\/glasto\/\" target=\"_blank\">Glastonbury 2005 photo gallery is now online<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In response to the ever-growing range of urban75-related activities, there&#8217;s now a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.urban75.org\/photos\/glasto\/\" target=\"_blank\">Community homepage<\/a> and a separate section for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.urban75.org\/walks\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Walks In And Around London<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Readers can also keep up to date with the blogs of urban75-ers via a new <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fridgemagnet.org.uk\/urban75\/blogs\/\" target=\"_blank\">Blog Listing<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, coming up next Thursday (28th July) is the next <a href=\"http:\/\/www.urban75.org\/offline\/\" target=\"_blank\">Offline Club night<\/a>, featuring the infamous &#8216;comedy terrorist&#8217; Aaron Barschak and highly rated electro-poppers ROC.<\/p>\n<p>See you there!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Site updates If I say so myself, there&#8217;s some great new stuff on the site.
