Brixton should\u00a0start\u00a0bracing itself for a stampede of bargain hunters on 10th May, when the new discount retailer \u00a0TK Maxx opens up.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The chain store is owned by\u00a0T.J. Maxx<\/a>, a\u00a0major clothes retailer in the United States with over 900 stores.<\/p>\n

Known as T.K. Maxx in Europe, the first store\u00a0opened in Bristol in 1994, with expansion swiftly following across\u00a0the UK, Ireland, Germany and Poland [read more<\/a>].<\/p>\n

The Brixton TK Maxx is located in the old Bon Marche buildings<\/a> on Brixton Road, which dates back to 1877.<\/p>\n

The new store occupies the premises of a pub which had been known as the\u00a0Flourmill and Firkin,\u00a0\u00a0Ivan\u2019s retreat (May 2008-September 2009), The Goose (c.2003-Apr 2008) before \u00a0its final incarnation as The Rest Is Noise<\/a>.<\/p>\n
