{"id":788,"date":"2004-06-08T09:11:00","date_gmt":"2004-06-08T09:11:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.urban75.org\/u75blog\/?p=788"},"modified":"2010-04-20T10:27:56","modified_gmt":"2010-04-20T09:27:56","slug":"788","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/788\/","title":{"rendered":"Venus in Transit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Venus in Transit<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Venus is currently shuffling across the face of the sun and it looks well <em>k3wl!<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/venus.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Venus passes in front of the Sun\" width=\"325\" height=\"194\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The last time it was possible to see the entire passage across the Sun was back in 1283 and the next time it will happen is 2247 -so, it&#8217;s rarer than a Cardiff City FA Cup triumph!<\/p>\n<p>Capt James Cook was so thrilled by the prospect of witnessing the Transit of Venus that he <a href=\"http:\/\/science.nasa.gov\/headlines\/y2004\/28may_cook.htm\" target=\"_blank\">sailed to Tahiti<\/a> to check it out.<\/p>\n<p>I managed to dig out my old eclipse sunglasses, carefully stuck them on the front of my Minolta A2 camera and after some fiddling with the exposure and  manual controls I got a half decent snap.<\/p>\n<p>Seeing this tiny dot passing the enormous burning sphere of the sun kinda makes you feel a bit &#8216;umble, doesn&#8217;t it?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Venus in Transit Venus is currently shuffling across the face of the sun and it looks well k3wl!
