{"id":793,"date":"2004-05-30T11:08:00","date_gmt":"2004-05-30T11:08:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.urban75.org\/u75blog\/?p=793"},"modified":"2010-06-01T14:42:36","modified_gmt":"2010-06-01T13:42:36","slug":"793","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/793\/","title":{"rendered":"Modstock at the Rocket in Holloway Road"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Modstock<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/modstock.jpg\" alt=\"Actionettes at Modstock\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Despite my bloodied hooter, I ventured up to the Rocket in Holloway Road for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newuntouchables.com\/nu.html\" target=\"_blank\">Modstock<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Billed as a &#8220;3 Day Event Celebrating 40 Years of Modernist Culture&#8221;, it was a curious mix of stylish young mods, middle aged sharp dressers and some less well-weathered old &#8216;uns squeezing into mohair suits.<\/p>\n<p>I was there to take snaps of the Actionettes, who performed a short set inbetween a moody fashion show and an old-school 60s band. It was fun.<\/p>\n<p>In case you didn&#8217;t know, I&#8217;ve always had a soft spot for Mod. I grew up with punk, Motown and the Who. For me, Quadrophenia remains the definitive album about teenage energy, awkwardness and rebellion.<\/p>\n<p>I was even in a moderately well known mod revival band, Beggar, and we recorded several tracks on the chart-denting (just!) <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reviewcentre.com\/reviews44662.html\" target=\"_blank\">Mods Mayday 79<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I bet that, err, impressed you, eh?!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Modstock Despite my bloodied hooter, I ventured up to the Rocket in Holloway Road for Modstock.
