{"id":796,"date":"2004-05-25T15:21:00","date_gmt":"2004-05-25T15:21:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.urban75.org\/u75blog\/?p=796"},"modified":"2010-11-02T19:31:46","modified_gmt":"2010-11-02T19:31:46","slug":"796","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/796\/","title":{"rendered":"Weekend updates &#8211; a night at the 12 Bar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Weekend updates<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Apologies for the slackness with the updates &#8211; things have been a tad busy.<\/p>\n<p>We finally moved over the rest of urban75 to its shiny, super fast home at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.exonetric.com\" target=\"_blank\">exonetric.com<\/a> and apart from a few expected minor teething problems things are settling in nicely. Phew!<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, we went back to the excellent <a href=\"www.12barclub.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">12 Bar Club<\/a> in Soho to see a feast of top bands.<\/p>\n<p>The stage there is tiny, but it&#8217;s a friendly place and one of the very few intimate live gigs left in central London.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/12bar_db.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"dexter bentley\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>deXter Bentley<\/strong> were great. Despite their multi-instrumentalist ensemble being jammed into an impossibly small space, they served up an eccentric, quirky, funny and uplifting set.<\/p>\n<p>Lord knows how you&#8217;d describe their set &#8211; I guess a mix of 00s acoustic folk meets XTC meets the Kinks comes close. They describe themselves as a &#8216;no-fi neo-folk quintent&#8217; if that helps&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/12bar_schla.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Schla la las at the 12 Bar Club\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Headlining the night were the the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theschlalalas.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Schla La Las<\/a>, a five piece, all girl band with attitude.<\/p>\n<p>Resplendent in matching outfits, the four guitarists produced a fabulous wall of sound, with Delia Dansette keeping the beats fast and furious.<\/p>\n<p>Their upfront mix of 60s tunes mixed with punk sensibilities set the place alight and if &#8220;Are you ready&#8221; isn&#8217;t a dance floor rippin&#8217; indie hit I&#8217;ll eat my HTML trousers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Weekend updates Apologies for the slackness with the updates &#8211; things have been a tad busy.
