In what’s rapidly turning into an annual event, long-serving\u00a0indie popsters The Monochrome Set played a superb set to a packed house at London’s Dingwalls last night.<\/p>\n

The support act was interesting enough but made the fatal error of playing too ruddy long.<\/p>\n

There’s a fantastic PA at Dingwalls – really top notch – \u00a0although its layout means that you get a great sound in the \u00a0middle, but less so on the edges and the back.<\/p>\n

Although usually the cue for a swift return to the bar, the Monochrome Set introduced a\u00a0suite\u00a0of new songs from their\u00a0upcoming\u00a0album, which actually proved to be very, very good indeed.<\/p>\n

We had the\u00a0privilege\u00a0of DJing the show and had a heap of fun, although I’m still a tad miffed at the undue haste in which the management declared the venue closed after the band had finished.<\/p>\n

They had the\u00a0audacity\u00a0– audacity<\/em>, I tell ye – to cut off Liberace’s spine-tingling, ivory-rattling rendition of ‘Roll Out The Barrel’ \u00a0mid-song.\u00a0Unforgivable. The\u00a0Heathens.<\/p>\n
