{"id":913,"date":"2003-11-10T01:22:00","date_gmt":"2003-11-10T01:22:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.urban75.org\/u75blog\/?p=913"},"modified":"2010-08-13T00:06:31","modified_gmt":"2010-08-12T23:06:31","slug":"913","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/913\/","title":{"rendered":"Long weekend- HDIFTBL, Brixton"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>It&#8217;s been a long weekend!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Friday I enjoyed a quaff with loads of chums in the trusty Prince Albert, Brixton before checking out a new club night in the Canterbury Arms &#8211; a no-nonsense, Irish bar behind Brixton market.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a great pub, with lots of odd idiosyncrasies like a couple of authentic fairground &#8216;bendy&#8217; mirrors on the stage and a fabulous 1970s style back-lit, wooden &#8216;Manhattan Skyline&#8217; feature by the DJ area.<\/p>\n<p>The blood splattered on the ceiling suggests that it&#8217;s had the odd bit of rough&#8217;n&#8217;tumble the over the years, but I&#8217;d rather drink in a &#8216;real&#8217; community pub than some plastic bar for scoot-stickers.<\/p>\n<p>The club was called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.howdoesitfeel.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">How Does it Feel to be Loved<\/a>, and the DJs played a great eclectic mix of Motown, Dexys, Velvets and The Smiths.<\/p>\n<p>Suffice to say we all got drunk.
