Zaragoza photos: Colours, life, street art, architecture and The Monochrome Set

The capital of northeastern Spain’s Aragon region, Zaragoza overlooks the Ebro River and is famous for its Islamic and Gothic architecture.

However, my attention was more taken by the vivid colours, the signs and the street art. Here’s some of what I saw:

Zaragoza is full of bars and restaurants in its bustling alleyways.

Shop fronts.

We grabbed something to eat at Bar Gallo on Calle de Pedro C. Ramirez – and it was very tasty indeed!

Roman amphitheatre remains.

A more recent addition to the Zaragoza landscape.

Puente de Piedra river bridge.

Fuente de la Hispanidad is a large, map-shaped fountain, constructed on the city’s central Plaza del Pilar in 1991.

The ‘Fountain of Hispanicity’ is designed to celebrate the cultural links between Spain and Latin America not just in name, but by its shape.

Abandoned sofa set.

A local campaign demands quieter street life.

Scenes at the  Zaragoza Psych Fest.

The Monochrome Set played the brilliant Zaragoza Psych Fest, accompanied by some superb live video graphics.
