Built on the site of an 11th Century palace, this Gothic Revival building was constructed between 1840 and 1888, with the clock tower housing a thirteen ton bell called Big Ben.
On the near side of the Thames can be seen the Millennium Wheel, the old GLC Building and the modern St Thomas' Hospital.
