A trip to timewarp Southwold

Southwold photos

We spent a delightful few days in the coastal town of Southwold in Suffolk last week, pedalling about on our little folding bikes.

The whole area is picture-book pretty, and seems almost unchanged from the middle of last century.

The architecture is fabulous, and there’s some fabulous walks around the town and country bike rides to be had.

We visited Dunwich, once a large trading port boasting nine churches, but after several calamitous storms in the middle ages, only a tiny village remains.

Despite many of them falling into the sea, there’s some stunning medieval churches to be found, most of them massively over sized for the small communities they now serve.
