There was a real carnival atmosphere in Brixton this lunchtime as massive crowds came out to greet the Olympic torch on its route to Wembley before the start of the Olympic Games 2012.
Huge crowds lined long stretches of Coldharbour Lane.
Local business Ms Cupcake handed out free cakes as we waited for the Olympic procession.

This cheeky fella rode ahead of the official procession and gleefully milked the applause.
The Prince Albert crowd were magnificent: loudly cheering the real Olympic stuff as it went by, and loudly booing the corporate sponsor bollocks.
There was a fair bit of mayhem going down on Coldharbour Lane with a P5 bus getting caught up in the procession.

There were massive crowds by Windrush Square, with the road junction completely blocked. I don’t think Brixton’s seen a street party so big since the 1998 Reclaim The Streets event.
It was real family event and the atmosphere was fantastic.
