I recently visited Margate on the south coast of England to watch Dulwich Hamlet football club thump the home team 4-1.

I also made sure I got there early enough to take in the sights of this fine town. Here’s 65 photos from my trip:

Greeting you as you leave the station is the startling Brutalist 18-storey residential apartment block, Arlington House, which was completed in 1963.

It’s still the tallest building in Margate and remains unpopular with some residents.

‘Hang Putin.’

I was treated to a splendid February afternoon.

Lost hat.

Looking across the sands to the seafront developments on Marine Terrace.

Faded elegance.

People enjoying a walk across the open sands.

Arlington House dominates the skyline.

Margate harbour contains several micropubs.

The Turner Contemporary gallery can be seen on the right.

The former Old Cottage pub.
