A group of Edwardian children gaze at the camera in this view of Electric Avenue from Atlantic Road.

The busy shopping avenue had been lavishly decorated throughout (see view of western entrance) with bunting draped along the length of the covered arcades.

Nearly a hundred years later and the street looks like Scrooge has been doing the decorating.

Although there's just two days to go before Christmas day, there's ne'er a scrap of tinsel to be found.
