Doorway, Chelsea Hotel
Well known as a haunt of musicians, writers and painters, many Chelsea residents made it their permanent home, and decorate their doorways accordingly.
Famous guests include Jack Kerouac, Arthur Miller, Tennessee Williams, Cartier-Bresson, Hendrix, Patti Smith, Jane Fonda, Arthur C Clarke, Sid Vicious and Bob Dylan.
It was also the place where one of my country's most famous sons, Dylan Thomas, drank 18 neat whiskies before promptly expiring on the spot.
