Chrysler Building

Born out of Walter P. Chrysler's desire to have "a bold structure, declaring the glories of the modern age", the Chrysler Building was briefly the tallest structure in the world before being eclipsed by the Empire State in 1930.

The building went up at the amazing rate of four floors a week and, to its supreme credit, not a single life was during its construction.
