Now this is just a world of wrong. October has barely got started and already there’s a bloody massive sign for Christmas up in London’s Oxford Circus.

I spotted the large suspended sign yesterday when Christmas was a far distant 78 days away. And that is ridiculous.

Although I’m happy to see the NSPCC being mentioned, that still doesn’t forgive them for starting to push the festive season in our faces just a couple of weeks after summer ended.

I know Christmas is a big occasion but Halloween is still 22 days away and Guy Fawkes Night is a month off, so why the hell can’t we enjoy them first without everything being overshadowed by the festive commercial onslaught?

Perhaps the clue is in the second name on the Christmas sign: Sky.

For the record: I bloody love Christmas, but as far as I’m concerned the decorations should go up no earlier than the 1st December.

Thank you. Rant over.

What do you think?

Do you agree that it’s happening too early? Or can’t the Christmas stuff come quick enough for you?

  1. Agreed, ridiculous. I’ve thought before that, perhaps, the way to stop this is to make a point of avoiding the stores that put up decorations too early. When their exploitation of our celebrations has the opposite effect by hitting them where it hurts then maybe they’ll think again!?
