The UK’s largest light festival, Lumiere is produced by the London-based creative company Artichoke, and comprises of multiple standalone light art-installations across the capital.

The festival also sees iconic buildings and locations illuminated and animated.

There’s an awful lot to see, and we only managed to see around half of what was on show – and even then only made it on the last day so couldn’t go back to capture the rest.

So here’s what we did manage to see, and some of it was very impressive indeed!

Powered by cyclists, this wonderful installation at the Westminster Cathedral Piazza was called The Rose (by Mick Stephenson) and was made up from thousands of illuminated recycled plastic bottles.

Asalto London by Daniel Canogar was a video projection of climbers ascending a tall building.

My favourite was The Light Of The Spirit by Patrice Warrener which ‘painted’ Westminster Abbey in striking vibrant colours, with animations bringing the building to life.

It was quite beautiful.

The Wave by Vertigo on the Riverside Walkway lit up in response to people walking through the triangular sculpture.

Childhood by Collectif Coin in Trafalgar Square saw balloons illuminating in sequence to a moody soundtrack.

Nightlife by the Lantern Company with Jo Pocock filled Leicester Square Gardens.

These were great! The Flamingo Flyway by the Lantern Company with Jo Pocock, as seen around Chinatown.

Voyage by Camille Gross and Leslie Epsztein beautifully illuminated the Hotel Café Royal with animated scenes.

It was a shame that its visual impact was lessened due to the proximity to the hideous new extra-bright advertising video screens that blast light across  Piccadilly Circus.

Impulse by Lateral Office and CS Design invited the public onto illuminated see saws on South Molton Street. It was ace!
