BALANCE: European Hardcore book launch at Lo & Behold E2 -

It’s not often I traipse past the ludicrously named Silicon Roundabout and venture east to the land of fixed-wheel racers, unfeasibly tight trousers and ironic moustaches, but I was happy to make an exception for the launch of a new book about the European hardcore scene.

‘Balance: European Hardcore’ is by Tom Barry and photographer Sophia Schorr-Kon and documents the modern European hardcore scene and the people behind it.

The book features striking photography of shows and portraits of influential musicians. Alongside these images, the authors provide insights into the informal rules that give order to the international movement—for example, all lyrics are written and performed in English—allowing readers an insider’s perspective on the enduring but underdocumented music scene.

The exhibition was at Lo & Behold on Swanfield St, W2 7DS, a small gallery that describes itself as “a light, contemporary and industrial art space, perfect for exhibiting all things inspiring.”
