I can definitely recommend paying a visit to the Landscape Photographer of the Year 2012 exhibition at the National Theatre, London – and the good news is that the exhibition’s run has now been extended to Feb 9th 2013.

The show features over 100 large scale photographs showing off some of the most beautiful and striking landscapes in the UK.

There’s some truly fantastic work to be seen, although with so many landscape shots on offer, I soon started to overdose a bit on misty hillsides, foggy woods, stormy seas and picturesque winter scenes.

That said, there is some magnificent work on offer, and I certainly felt somewhat ‘umbled by the quality of some of the images.

There’s a little cafe right next to the photos, so you can grab a drink and soak up the art.

The free exhibition takes place in the Lyttelton Exhibition Space at the National Theatre and runs until the 9th Feb 2013 – so get there quick!

Exhibition opening hours are 9.30am to 11pm [more info].

It was quite nice to walk around a near-deserted National Theatre too.

The brutalist architecture has divided opinion since it was built in the 1970s, and has managed to appear simultaneously in lists of the top ten “most popular” and “most hated” London buildings in opinion surveys! [Source]
