I love it when we stumble across a fine coffee in an unlikely place, and we definitely came up trumps on Saturday when we visited the Counter cafe in east London.

Located at the end of a semi-industrial street off the unappealing A12 main road, the cafe exudes a down to earth charm inside, with bare brick walls, old cinema seats and old benches.

The coffee was great – as was the Anzac biscuit we scoffed – and they also offer an all day brunch, freshly made sandwiches and cakes galore.

According to their website, they’re open 7.30am – 5pm Mon – Weds, 7.30am-11pm Thurs and Fri, 9-11pm Saturday and 9-5pm on Sundays – if you enjoy your coffee, we recommend you pay them a visit!
