We recently paid another visit to Leigh-on-Sea and after photographing people playing in a vast sea of mud, we climbed a mountain of stairs to take a walk around the town centre.

This Old Town pub gets its name from the slang term ‘snack’ for an old fishing boat that apparently, “sneaks through the water like a snake.”

On the left can be seen old the Leigh-on-Sea railway station building which opened on July 1, 1855, and is now used by sailing club.

The original station closed in 1934 and was replaced by a modern station some 880 yards to the west.

To get to the town centre from the Old Town you have a to climb a lot of stairs.

The Leigh on Sea folk festival took place in multiple venues across the town, with the focus being Leigh Library Gardens, where there were multiple stages, a bar and stalls.

Incredibly, you can see the towers of Canary Wharf and the Shard from Leigh on Sea, some 34 miles distant.
