Seen draped across the premises of a new upmarket commercial development in Greenwich Village was several metres of bright yellow hazard tape bearing the message, “Gentrification In Progress.”
The scene was captured at 7am this morning in Bleeker Street by our resident NY reporter, Fletch.
He added that the the tape was stretched over three empty stores in a row. One of them was one of the last places in The Village that you could by vinyl records.
Of course, you don’t need hazard tape to warn you of your area’s impending gentrification – just check out this comprehensive list of the portents of gentrifying doom: The A – Z of Gentrification – sure-fire signs that your neighbourhood is upwardly mobile.
