Then and Now: Electric Lane, Fruit stall, street market
Photographic comparisons of old and modern views of Lambeth
Fruit stall display with four, neatly stacked rows of oranges and apples facing Electric Avenue. The apples range in price from 3d (1.5p) to 9d (4p) per pound.
In the background can be seen the well stocked window display of Timothy Whites & Taylor.

This prime market patch - right by the junction with Brixton Road - has been used by the same family for over fifty years, and the stall hasn't changed much over the years.
Timothy Whites has been taken over by Boots who disposed of the street display and covered up the windows with unattractive white boarding.
